An honest Go Sleek Hair review: the clip ins that gave me length, volume, and time in my mornings back.
I’ve always had a deep appreciation for any beauty routine that helps you look put together in the shortest amount of time. I’m definitely not a morning person so I’m always on the lookout for tips that make getting ready as simple and seamless as possible. As they say, when you look good, you feel good, so figuring out ways to look and feel my best have been a priority over the last year or so.
As a woman of color with a naturally curly hair pattern, that entails many hours of maintenance, I started chatting with my hair stylist about ways I could add length and volume without adding more stress to my routine.
I knew that clip in extensions were an option and had used them in the past but they always felt too bulky and time consuming, so I set on a mission to revisit them as an option and to find the easiest, most beautiful way to get the best of both worlds, gorgeous hair AND ease.

Go Sleek was founded by Master Cosmetologist Monique Ingram with one non-negotiable rule: extensions should always look undetectable. They focus on providing products that help you create the perfect blend with your natural hair, so that your install looks like it’s growing from your scalp every time.
Go Sleek Hair offers wigs, clip ins, and human hair bundles of various textures, and hair accessories so you’re covered in all areas of your hair care journey.
I discovered Go Sleek Hair in my search for quality Clip in Hair Extensions. I wanted to ensure I was investing in a product that would not only last but offer enough variety in texture to truly match my hair when it’s been pressed out.
Everything I’m sharing in this Go Sleek Hair review comes from real, repeated use over many months.
One thing I love about Go Sleek Hair is all of the educational content they create to support you in making your decision about their products and the different ways you can install them. While most are familiar with the traditional sew in, there are actually a few different ways you can wear hair extensions that increase overall wear time.
Clip in hair extensions are hair wefts with small comb attachments that make them easy to slide into your hair and snap closed for a secure fit. By parting the hair into sections, you install a set of clip ins row by row to create a fuller look. Clip ins should be comfortable to wear during the day, and easy to remove at night as to not place extended tension or cause pulling on your natural hair while you sleep.
When you attach clip in extensions onto a braided down foundation, my stylist calls this an “express sew in”. The term express comes from the fact that it takes significantly less time than sewing each row individually like you would in a traditional sew in. The braided down hair gives the clips something more secure to hold on to.
While this term may not be used in every salon, you can absolutely talk with your stylist about this option, and you may want to start by finding a stylist that offers sew-in hair extensions as a service and inquiring about the option to use clip ins instead of bundles.
The benefit of this method is that you do not have to take the style down every night. Since the clip ins are attached to your braids, there tends to be less tension and pulling on the natural hair.
The most common and traditional installation method of hair extensions for women of color. A sew in is achieved by braiding the hair in a circular pattern where the braids lay flat against your hair, then adding a hair net on top of the braids. Human Hair bundles are then sewn onto the net (which is on top of the braids), providing more security and giving you the option of longer term wear (1-2 months).
The benefit of long term wear is great, but if you’re anything like me you might like to switch up your look often so you may be wondering if you can color Go Sleek Hair and the answer is YES!
While I highly recommend working with your stylist to achieve the color of your choice, Go Sleek has a great video on coloring the extensions on Youtube. I personally have worn them a deep dark brown and a lighter shade of brown and can say that they colored beautifully in both scenarios.
One thing to note, I do not recommend taking the extensions from dark to light so I purchased new extensions when I wanted to go lighter now I have a dark and light pair whenever I want to switch things up.

This look features three bundles of 20in. Go Sleek Hair Extensions in the Venus Body Wave texture, dyed a Honey Blonde or Light Brown color by my stylist.
An honest Go Sleek Hair review would be complete without an honest look at both sides, so here’s what stood out after months of consistent wear.
Variety of Textures
I love that Go Sleek offers many textures for different hair types increasing the likeliness that you’ll find your perfect match
Super Fast Shipping
While I can’t speak for everyone, every order I have placed with Go Sleek Hair has always arrived very fast. Reliable shipping is essential when you’re investing in something so important and this company has never let me down when it comes to receiving my extensions on time.
Low Shedding, High Quality
Quality is the no. 1 factor for me when making any purchase, so when it comes to quality Go Sleek Hair is unmatched. The shedding is minimal and even after coloring the hair a lighter shade I was impressed by the shine, and silkiness of the product.
Decision Fatigue
If you’re anything like me, having so many choices can be overwhelming. If you’re unsure what texture, and length I highly recommend working with you hair stylist to give you advice and feedback on which product would be the best fit. You can also check out the solution guide on Go Sleek Hair’s website.
Price Fluctuations
While I love a good sale, Go Sleek Hair has them frequently which can create FOMO and uncertainty of the right time to buy.
Washing your extensions is important! You’ll want to invest in a hydrating shampoo and conditioner as well as a drying rack to make it easy to blow dry the extensions. There are also drying rack options that can be attached to your mirror with suction cups, or hanging options but I personally prefer the stable base of a standing rack.
If you go the traditional clip in extension route and will be taking them out every night, you may find a hair extension holder bag to keep them protected useful. These bags are also great for travel!
Speaking of taking your extensions out every night, I am obsessed with the heatless roller method for maintaining gorgeous curls without using damaging heat tools. This heatless hair roller set was a game-changer for night time routine and made my getting ready time in the morning even shorter than I thought possible!
If you’ve made it this far in my Go Sleek Hair review, you can probably guess where I land. I definitely think Go Sleek Hair is worth it for anyone that wants to protect their natural hair while enjoying the put together look of hair extensions.
I can truly say that over time wearing hair extensions has allowed my natural hair to flourish and grow longer than it’s been in a very long time.
I can not express enough how important it is to continue to care for your natural hair while wearing hair extensions. While wearing hair extensions is convenient, it is not an opportunity to simply neglect your hair underneath.
Make sure your next install is truly an act of self care, by being intentional and thoughtful about your foundation underneath it all.
Pricing for Go Sleek Hair extensions may very greatly based on the length, texture, and installation method. Whether this Go Sleek Hair review convinced you to try clip ins or talk to your stylist about an express sew in, you can use my code MSTARNES to get 10% off, no matter which option you decide on or when you decide to make your purchase.
