Business is stressful. Period. And sometimes that stress can drastically affect how we’re functioning and if we’re still aligned with our purpose – aka the whole reason we started our businesses in the first place. I always share better ways to take a break from your business or balance the entrepreneurial lifestyle. Today, I want to talk about gaining clarity in your business – and how a book or two might be exactly what you need to kick it off.
How does reading books help you gain clarity in your business? Reading is known for improving focus, boosting creativity, expanding your knowledge, and increasing your confidence. Books also allow you to experience the ideas, experiences, and perspectives of others, which can help you find clarity in your own life, both personally and professionally.
While reading can help you relax, I want to focus on the books that help you find clarity – or rather, helped me find clarity in my business and could help you, too. Here are the three books I recommend reading as an entrepreneur to gain clarity in your business:
One of my absolute favorites that aligns with the values in which I run my business, Untamed by Glennon Doyle, is a must-read.
Untamed is a powerful memoir from the “patron saint of female empowerment,” Glennon Doyle, and dives into the joy and peace you can find when you stop trying to meet other’s expectations and start trusting your own voice.
Her memoir teaches women how to start trusting themselves, setting boundaries, making peace with their bodies, and honoring their own emotions.
I will forever recommend 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think by Brianna Wiest as one of the books you should read to gain clarity in your business.
Brianna does such an amazing job bringing attention to why you should pursue purpose over passion, embrace negative thinking, and see the wisdom in your daily routine. But, overall, the essays included in the book get you thinking about yourself and how you navigate your daily life – including how you navigate and interact with your business.
The book is a mix of getting you to think and supporting you to remind you that you’re not alone – plus, you can skip to sections that you feel apply to you most or read through the whole book!

Well, Built to Belong is a book authored by Natalie, which calls for embracing community and connection from an entrepreneur and leader.
The book helps you find clarity by breaking down how to kick jealousy to the curb and transform how you look at social media, how you can overcome loneliness and start finding your people, and how to balance camaraderie and competition.
